Sevenoaks and District Motor Club

Sevenoaks and District Motor Club was founded in 1954. The club is one of the larger MSA affiliated motoring clubs in the country and the membership reflects this, with members competing in most aspects of competitive and fun motorsport.

Our members have ranged from people involved in the lowest level of club motorsport to the late Vic Elford who was our president for many years and raced in F1, sports cars and won the Monte Carlo Rally.

The club is actively involved in most aspects of motorsport. We organise our own sprint championship and summer autotest series as well as other events such as AutoSOLO, scatter and 12-car rallies. There is something for everybody whether you wish to compete or help out with marshalling or organising.

Invite to an Autosolo and Autotest  ‘Taster Event’

Saturday 20th August at the Ashford Cattle Market,
Orbital Way, Ashford TN24 0HB

8am till 5pm

The club will be staging their first ‘taster’ event at the Cattle Market in Ashford, which is their usual venue for previous Autosolo events. Here, anyone from the public can sample the art of Autosolo and Autotesting. Designed for all newcomers and beginners, the club will have instructors on hand to help guide anyone new into the art of competing in their everyday road car. This is not a competition, but a demonstration and ‘try out’ to show what is required and indeed provide a ‘taster’ for people who want to join a motor club and then actually compete later on. The event is being run in liaison with the new Motorsport UK initiative called ‘StreetCar’, where people can compete in their everyday road cars for various grass roots events.

We are looking for 25 club members to bring their vehicles, enhance their driving skills and assist with any training required. An Autosolo and Autotest course will be set up and club members will have a lot of opportunity to try these. The cost will be £25.00 which will offset the venue hire and cover insurance. Training will be given on all aspects of club motorsport, from entering events to administration and marshalling.

If you are a newcomer to the club, or want more practice or need to find out more, then this is the event for them, so please pass on details to anyone you know may be interested.

Regulations are available on our club website and facebook page, so just look for the link on the club calendar for further details.

Club member entries are limited to 25, so please enter early.

If you know anyone who might like to come along and have a go please forward them the poster below.

Motorsport UK Announces £1M Club Continuity Funding Package

New Motorsport UK RS Clubman licence from 2020

From January 2020, Motorsport UK will be introducing a requirement for all competitors in Motorsport UK permitted events to hold a Motorsport UK competition licence; in addition to your club membership. This will be at a minimum the new "RS Clubman licence" and applies to new competitors as well as to anyone previously competing solely with a club membership card.

The good news is that this entry-level RS Clubman licence is completely free of charge.

This initiative is being introduced by Motorsport UK to encourage participation at grass roots level as well as to ensure that all competitors are covered by comprehensive public liability and personal accident insurance. It replaces the Non-Race Clubman licence, (which in 2019 cost £29). All licence holders will have access to the Member Benefits Programme which provides substantial discounts on well-known brands’ products and services and can offset the costs of competing.

If you have not previously held a Competition licence or not renewed in 2019, it will also be a requirement to apply for a new RS Clubman licence in order to compete or be a passenger in Club events. This is free of charge and applicable to Autotests, Autosolos, Trials, Cross Country and Road Rallying including 12 Cars and Scatters. Please note: an RS Clubman licence is not required if you are already in possession of a current 2019 Competition licence.

Apply For an RS Clubman License from the Motorsport UK Website.  The application form is very straight forward and takes only a couple of minutes to complete.  Sign up now and be ready to compete in 2020.

Not everyone is as keen to keep going as the chap below - but he did have fun!
