Summer Autotest  June 26 2003

Yet another brilliant, sunny evening for the fourth in the series – is this weather for real or are we operating in some kind of parallel universe…?

Whatever, a good turn out of competitors, some of whom were obviously suffering from too much (sic) grip in that the back end of the car wouldn’t  step out when it was supposed to!

Flying dust was also a problem but the man who came through it quickest this time was PETER BAYLIS in the rally Peugeot, closely followed by class A winner CHRIS JUDGE.

RALPH TRAVERS  again picked up class B, but only just, from IAN CROCKER (see front cover of current Acorn !) in his Honda. Nice to see a new entrant in this class in the form of GILL TWEMLOW competing for only the second time -  another entry for the Ladies Cup.

Class D saw the Marina of  LEE BUSBRIDGE and CRAIG McGURK trying, and just failing on this occasion, to try and put one over on MICK ROSE’S  very neat and tidy Escort.

The collection of ‘hairy’ cars contesting Class E  perhaps unsurprisingly provided the FTD in the form of PETER BAYLIS, but not by such a long way, and ANTHONY BLYTH  tamed the Subaru into the class winners spot.

Well done to you all, my grateful thanks to CHIN and JOHN  for their marshalling efforts (and of course ‘part timer’ CHRIS JUDGE ) and let’s do it all again in two weeks  time? (Thursday July 10)
