Editorial Ramblings
Well we are back to a full strength Acorn this month. I have had a bit of a fiddle with the layout at the beginning after some constructive comments from a couple of members, who suggested it might be better to have the calendar right at the front with the committee details a tadge further in. What do you think?
So lots to catch up on. At our last committee meeting we sat and planned the social calendar for the next few 3rd Wednesdays, so check out the Social Events Calendar on page 4 and please put these dates in your diaries. We look forward to lots of you coming along to do something different from your motorsport activities.
12 cars and scatters are now underway with the first one having been run on 14th October by our friends at Croydon MC. I hope they had a good turnout and the series remains well supported through this season (both in terms of competitors and marshals).
Scatters have in recent years been in a bit of a decline, so perhaps we can all try to turn this around. It is a shame because they are a great way to get started in basic navigation events and are fun. Really! If you have never given one a try, then check out the first one of this season on Thursday 27th October, which is being run by Maidstone, from the White Hart at Claygate, Tonbridge from 7.30pm. We are going to give this one a go as we haven’t done one for a while and a Thursday night is quite good for us. See you there.
Our Autotest Awards Evening is coming up on Wednesday 19th October at The Bell. Open to all who competed at our Summer Series and to those who didn’t!
Clive Cooke and John Kemp have kindly offered to once again run not one, but two PCTs for 7Oaks this season. The first one is on Sunday November 27th at the same venue that B19 use currently, Chapman’s Hill. Regs can be found for this at the back of the magazine with a loose entry form for you to complete and send off to Clive. The 2nd PCT will take place on 26th March 2006. A date for your diaries then!
The Karting event that got postponed is now rescheduled for February 15th 2006. A separate flyer/entry form is enclosed for this too. There is a closing date which must be adhered to, so as Bob Bradbury our organiser, can decide whether it is viable. It also allows plenty of time for all interested parties to get their teams together. So come and support this.
I have also included this month the MSA Wheels newsletter. Although I get this every month, I don’t often have the opportunity to insert the whole thing here, as we usually have enough copy of our own, but I thought it might be of interest and will include it if the readership (YOU) would like to see it more often.
Finally check out the scores on the doors provided by Chin elsewhere this month. And keep those results rolling in.
