Final Words Re:  Spotted Dick and Custard Stages 2003
 

Dear Viv, Kevin and I just wanted to drop a note to everyone at Sevenoaks to thank you all so much for a great event on Sunday 31st August. We thoroughly enjoyed the day - found the stages exciting, challenging and fast and the organisation just impeccable. We particularly thank Colin and Chin for leading the team through the day. We were particularly delighted with our result, as 3rd overall was a fantastic end to the day. Only one comment - we did find the finish for the afternoon stages quite tricky to achieve a safe stop in the distance given from the flying finish to the timing personnel. I don't know if any other competitors have commented? We can see that this is awkward in the space available in that area but wonder if anything can be done to improve this for next year? Even though not all the Jersey crews made it to a formal finish on the day, everyone felt they had had a good time and were well impressed. The journey home on the slow ferry gave us time for a good chat and a few laughs and commiserations - and everyone would be keen to return next year. Dear All This is a very short note to thank everyone that helped with the organisation of the event both before and on the day. Everything that I have heard suggests it was well received by the competitors, which is what it is all about. Unfortunately the first stage was 3 minutes late starting, but thanks to the hard work of the Stage Commander and his crews we maintained the schedule and started the final stage 3 minutes late also. The results crew were on top of the situation all day and results were posted as provisional within 15 minutes of the last car finishing. Once again many thanks to all concerned, for an excellent job well done. Colin Billings
