Comp Sec Notes
Hello from your new Competition Secretary. I have taken over this role from Andy Elcomb who has been doing the job for some time now in addition to several other posts he holds on committee! The main news this month is about changes to the Speed rules for next year.
All of the regional speed championships and the club championships based in the South East met in September to agree new rules for next year (2007). The new rules for 2007 Can be found on pages 13 and 14 of Acorn this month. Please read them carefully. A summary of the changes can be found below:
1. The re-introduction of a standard production category.
2. The banning of crossply tyres in list 1B (as notified 1 year ago).
3. Permitting cars with no reverse gear in the kit car classes (as notified 1 year ago).
4. Deleteing the Formula Ford/Clubmans class (as notified 1 year ago).
There are 4 proposals for 2008 that will be discussed in April 2007 and accepted/rejected in Sep 2007:
1. To allow the use of list 1B tyres in roadgoing classes (category B, NOT the new category A).
2. To review the class capacity limits for single seaters.
3. To review the decision to allow forced induction in the new category A.
4. To consider the division of the new category A in to
multiple classes based on engine cc or some other measure of likely
performance.
