Rally Rattlings
We’re still not allowed out to play anywhere other than Longcross it
seems, but those of us who have been there have done well Collin Billings/Andy
Elcomb finished a very creditable 12th overall and 4th in class being the
first FWD car home on the recent Mini Tempest Stages at Longcross – keep
it up chaps!
Other than that there’s not much to report, our Rally Schools continue
every fourth Thursday at the Bell (all welcome) and I guess we’re all building
cars that are perfect without the usual rush, or are we gaining Brownie
points by being constructive and social domestically?
The earliest possibility for road rallying to restart is hoped to be
August, but as we don’t usually run anything in August that gives the organisers
of (hopefully) the Bullnose a bit of a chance for PR work etc. – I hope
it will run. I guess that our winter series of 12-cars and Scatters will
run as normal, but only time will tell.
The other chance for earning Brownie points (what are Brownie points?
They can’t be worth much as you seem to be able to earn them for all sorts
of activity or even non-activity!) is to help out on the events we do run,
the next being our Sprint at North Weald on 17th June. The Chief Marshal
will expect some thirty or so willing volunteers to safeguard the well-being
of those maniacs amongst us who hurtle their vehicles as fast as possible
around the tarmac of the airfield with brain in the off mode but brain-stem
reactions finely tuned. Now who should you all volunteer to for this splendid
and noble task – well, it’s ME! Yes, I couldn’t say no when asked to volunteer
for North Weald so you follow suit and phone or email me chin@btinternet.com
very soon.
That’s all folks!
Chin
