Editorial Ramblings

The Awards dinner in February proved to be a great night out once again. We had a lovely evening and the food was pretty good too. Thanks must go to Viv and Andy Elcomb for their organisation and well done Andy on a difficult job well done, as our MC for the evening.

It was nice to see some new faces take away awards and a return to some very familiar ones. Well done to all our award winners, you may see your picture in this edition.

I remember in my December ramblings saying that 2006 was going to be a weird year with regards to events. The rollercoaster ride has started. Firstly and thanks to a concerted effort on the part of our President John Symes and B19’s Neil Benfield, to name but two of the team, the April sprint at North Weald is back on. The various club and MSA officials met last week with the representatives from Epping and North Weald itself and came up with a section of the airfield that could be utilised for sprinting, without disturbing the market people. As I type, regs are being printed and I am once again Entries Secretary. With the event only 7 weeks away as I sit here, (argh!) you had better get your skates on with your final car and paperwork preps.

Unfortunately it looks as though the August sprint we were running at North Weald won’t happen, as the “new” area we would’ve be using has already been booked. You win some etc…

Talking of which you will read elsewhere that the Kent Rally organisers have decided not to run the event. Colin will tell you more in his bit next door!

We have also had a bit of trouble with a venue for our PCT on March 26th. Both usual places were booked, however a new venue has been found and there is a flyer in this Acorn to give you full details. If you are interested in more info, regs will be on the website very shortly or you can drop Clive Cooke an email or give him a ring to express interest in an entry or as a marshal.

I believe the February karting evening was successful and report and photos will appear in April Acorn. Boy it’s all highs and lows this month!

Don’t forget the new deadline system for Acorn, April deadline is 13th March. I look forward to being inundated with copy as there will have been a Scatter, a 12 car and a PCT or two to report on, plus B19’s test day at Oakington, which I believe some of you are going to “shakedown” your cars at. Please let me know how you get on.

Isn't she lovely ??Finally I am sure you join me in sending congratulations to Ross and Sue Savile who have increased the population in New Zealand after the safe arrival of Scarlett in early February. Congratulations also to proud grandad Brian. (I am sure he’ll thank me for that!)

I have rambled enough.
