Comp Talk

Well the competition year has got off to a flying start with the KENT RALLY fielding 26 crews out on the night. They all seemed to enjoy the event although there were a few that did not make it to the finish due to mechanical problems or navigational errors….a few new candidates for Chin’s rally school. Well done to Chin, Graham Child and Kevin Ablitt for a successful event. Many thanks also to all of you who came out and marshalled on the night making sure that all the time controls were manned. You have got that important SPEED LEAGUE marshalling qualification in early and I hope you did not get too cold.

Now for the news of forthcoming events, the first of which is the RALLY OF KENT on 20th March. As you are aware, we run this in association with Bexley Light Car Club and Maidstone and Mid Kent Motor Club and it is the only forest Stage Rally in Kent. So once again we need your support to make it a success. If you can help out then let Andy Elcomb know.

Two more events coming up are both at Longcross, Chertsey; The MINI TEMPEST STAGE RALLY on 3rd April and The CHIEFTAIN SPRINT on 17th April. Both these events are being organised by Sutton and Cheam Motor Club and are rounds of the Association championships.

There is a Borough 19 Sprint on 20th March, but hopefully you should all be too busy helping out on the Rally of Kent!

The first round of our own speed championship, the Sevenoaks Speed League, is the TWMC sprint at Brands Hatch on 2nd April and our first sprint of the year at North Weald on 10th April. Dawn Travers is the Entry Secretary for our sprint and the regs are available now.

The final 12 Car of the series is on 8th April organised by B18 MC on behalf of Weald MC and for the off-roaders amongst you, there are PCTs on the 24th April and 15th May. Our 2005 Summer Autotest Series starts with the first event on 12th May.

There is a lot to keep you club competitors busy, please check out the full events calendar elsewhere in this Acorn.

One final event that might be of interest if you have a classic car is the Three Counties Tour being organised by Croydon Motor Club on 22nd May. This is a Touring assembly for cars over 20 years old and a full road book is provided, so map reading is not important. Competition licences and club cards are not required.

If you require any more details for any of these events then please give me a ring.

HAPPY COMPETING!
