This event kicked off from the Fox & Hounds pub at Toy’s Hill near Edenbridge. The area covered was quite large being roughly bounded by Chiddingstone to the South, Brasted to the North and Kemsing to the East. The navigation was pretty straightforward but time consuming as all simple plots were offset grid references requiring a little mental arithmetic. Under the pressure of rapid plotting most crews made at least one error here. The lanes were generally very narrow and muddy with some high speed roads in the Bough Beech area. There was a good turnout with 10 crews from 3 motor clubs, mostly experienced people but with some newcomers too. While the crews were out in the lanes Keith and I had some good food in the pub. As is so often the case Mark Dawson and Daren Hall won the event and picked up a couple of decent bottles of wine for doing so. Dawn and Ralph Travers pushed hard and had one of their best results coming in just 20 points behind the winners. Nick Powter and Glynn ‘Willie’ Williams from Bexley came home 3^rd, having the same points as Dawn and Ralph but dropping 15 marks for being 3 minutes late back. New SDMC members Olly Gausden and Andy Malone just missed out on a top 3 spot with a very impressive 4^th place debut.
