Well February has come and gone and we have seen another successful running of the Kent Rally. Congratulations to Chin and the organising team for putting together yet another very successful event. Thanks also to those of you who gave up sleep to come out and help marshal on the night. The result was incredibly close with the top four crews separated by just four minutes However, we did manage to get a clear winner by the huge margin of one minute; congratulations to Olly Smith and David Coles from Wessex CC on their Golden Jubilee Kent Rally win.
By the time you receive this copy of Acorn the Rally of Kent may have come and gone. However if not, then please offer your support to the organising team by marshalling on the event. As always we need as much help as possible. See details in February’s Acorn.
Next month we also need lots of marshals for our National A co-promoted sprint at Lydden on the 10th April, so please offer your services to Chris Scudder now and make his life a little easier. Thank you.
Lastly, I am pleased to announce that John Symes has recently accepted the post of Club President. The post has remained vacant for some time now, following the death of Jack Kemsley. John Symes, as many of you will know, is a former chairman of the Sevenoaks & District Motor Club and has been an active member for many years. He has worked for the MSA for a number of years now and is responsible for Technical and Risk Control issues; prior to that John was involved in the organisation and running of Brands Hatch Leisure in the days of John Webb. I and the rest of the club committee look forward to many a year under John’s presidency.
