205 Challenge Warm Up

Stefan Davis warming up in Sweden Thought you might be interested to hear about my recent “warm up” (or should I say cool down  at -20°C) to the 205 Challenge I have entered this year. There was a group of about 30 of us with 12 cars, who went out to develop our driving techniques such as left foot braking, sideways control etc. It was fantastic! The lads who organise the challenge got us a good deal and hired a frozen lake in Sweden which had no grip at all. Hopefully it will have paid off and the techniques work on gravel as well as on ice.
We were out there at the same time as the WRC so of course we had to see one of the stages with McRae on a charge. Awesome week! Britain would have come to a standstill with roads like that.
I must mention something about the guy who sorted things out for us out there. A chap called Erikson, brother of a certain Skoda WRC driver, top bloke with excellent skill. We went up to his ice go-kart track and spent a few hours driving like lunatics. I had to defrost the eyelids afterwards mind. He also gave us a bit of a demo of technique on his private lake / go kart track and let us have a play too!
Once in a lifetime experience.
