Foot & Mouth causes problems for us too.

Whilst the Rally Sunseeker got away with it the previous weekend, just, the Foot & Mouth troubles have even affected our local sport. With just a few hours to go, the MSA got in touch with us to say that all types of rally permits had been withdrawn and that included Colin Billings'  scatter that day, Feb 28th.

Yes, it is difficult to imagine how a dozen cars running around the normal public lanes of Kent for two and a half hours one evening was likely to help spread the disease, but as we are a responsible club we felt it best to play ball and call it off.

Borough 18's 12-car due on Friday 2nd March had already been cancelled we believe, then Maidstone rang to say that they had cancelled their scatter due on 15 th March.

As at 1st  March we just don't know quite how long this will last, nor how or if it may start to affect speed events. At present, the onus is on the landowners to say whether events are to be cancelled. We therefore have to wait for Lydden's say-so, as any other way, probably even via the MSA, would no doubt result in the loss of the circuit hire deposit.

Andy & Viv Elcomb will keep the Weald clubs informed by email as to how the calendar may be affected, but expect all sorts of confusion over the next month or so. Let's hope that things quieten down quite quickly, otherwise this year might just be the best opportunity to finish off that wreck in the garage that you will ever get!
