Editorial Ramblings
Well, this month the Editor is getting 2 holidays in the one month, long shall she never complain. This morning I dropped her and our youngest off in the school's playground, ready to board their coach to whizz them across the channel for a week's 'cultural' trip to France for Year 6 children. Now when I say whizz, I mean it. The rain this morning was coming across horizontally and knowing how Dawn loves the open seas, I would not like to be sitting next to her. Looking on the BBC weather Website, it's only force 6 - 8 gales, so a nice breeze to whisk them across the channel. To put this all in perspective, she'll be looking after the 40 school children in a medical capacity, so I'm sure she won't be alone on the ferry, looking over the side in solitude.
The real benefit for this kind of outing, is the ability for a school coach to have much room in it's baggage hold to carry many purchases from the Duty Free shops on the way home.
After this week in France, Dawn is off to Centre Parcs, where she'll be allowed to recover from the previous week. To aid her in this quest, we'll not be taking our bikes to ensure she does no damage to herself (See October 2003 Editorial for a full report there) , well actually, I didn't want to scratch the new Travers’ mobil by putting a bike rack on to the Vectra’s replacement!!
My foray into motorsport this month was just a visit to Longcross, to Bexley's Anniversary Stages. I was with Chin, where we set about compiling the results for their event. There the weather again wasn't too kind to us but thankful for the job in hand, as it meant staying in the HQ away from the elements except for the collection of the timesheets. It didn't help Chin much, as he volunteered to keep on going outside to bring in the timesheets, well he did have the wet weather clothing on. I must admit that some of the paper being brought back in wasn't too useful, as trying to make out the faint markings on the soggy paper was a little infuriating, but I must say the marshals who were out in the elements continually, never truly complained and the event went off very well, even though numbers were down and itkept to schedule.
So back to Acorn, with the Missus gone and whilst I looking after Emma, I’ve also been detailed to bring the last bits of this magazine together and send it on to the printers, so I’d better get on…….., normal service will resume next month.
