Comp Talk
Sorry not able to write much this month. However, those of you who came to the AGM in April will know that, due to increasing work commitments, I have stepped down from the Competition Secretary’s post.
Of course the club needs someone to fill my shoes and the Comp Sec post is one of the most important positions on the committee. It provides the link for all event organisers and competitors.
Sometime last year, Chin prepared a short job profile for all the committee posts and below is what is entailed in being Comp Sec:
COMPETITION SECRETARY:
To prepare the competition calendar and communicate this to the MSA, Regional Associations, Acorn and Website editors.
To book external officials for all events (in practise this has only been done for speed events; the secretary of the meeting has done this for rallies – we could play this either way – it may be more logical to combine them as we use the same paramedics, timekeepers and some other officials)
To assign the senior club officials for each event.
See? Not too onerous and there are plenty of experienced people on hand to guide and support you along the way. Please, please think carefully before disregarding yourself as a volunteer. Ring or email me or any committee members if you want to know more or feel now is the time for you to get more involved organisationally with your club.
I have been sent details of a couple of events which have been added to the calendar in this month’s Acorn.
