Rally Scholarship Competition
Just wondered if any of you out there would like to have a crack at this!
ProSpeed Motorsport are running a Rally Scholarship offering a work’s sponsored drive with the team during 2006 to the value of £30,000. They are genuinely looking for talent to promote their business.
I entered the Scholarship last year and got through to the Final. I unfortunately missed out on winning, but all was not lost. Olly Marshall ProSpeed Motorsport’s MD is as genuine as they come and being involved in the sport at a World Championship level, he understands the strains of trying to achieve in the sport. Though I missed out on the prize, ProSpeed Motorsport have shown their commitment to the scholarship scheme and their business. I am under the increasing financial strains of trying to succeed in rallying and the next round of my championship was looking to be a no go. ProSpeed have sponsored my next rally which is absolutely amazing and that is what they are about. They want good drivers to promote their name and business and genuinely want to help and reward potential.
This year the scholarship has 2 categories a Novice and Expert, Expert being probably more suitable to those members already involved in motorsport and holders of National B licenses.
The winning driver of the Novice class will be given the chance to contest a total of three national rallies in a ProSpeed Motorsport car, whereas for the winner of the Expert class, they will be given a work’s sponsored drive with the team during 2006 to the value of £30,000.
The scholarship will include assessment of driving on both tarmac and gravel surfaces as well undertaking other skills such as car knowledge, media awareness and co driving amongst others.
Olly Marshal has said that he sees the Expert category as a training ground for talented drivers and the Novice class as an ideal way of getting started in the sport, and he is sure that there are many competitors out there who would benefit from this initiative. He wants this to encompass all aspects of the sport with not only driving on various surfaces being a factor, but the various other requirements on modern drivers including a basic mechanical knowledge, the role of the co-driver as well as the technical side of the sport for example.
Both Scholarships are open to everyone and will commence in June with the preliminary rounds thereafter, those showing greatest prowess will be invited back for a second round later in the year.
From the second selection procedure, six finalists will be selected for the respective finals to be held in December and upon conclusion, the two lucky winners will be announced.
The cost for the assessment round is just £199 and those invited back pay another £199 for round two. There is nothing further to pay as the finalists are invited back entirely free of charge meaning that for a maximum payment of less than £400, there are two prize drives available.
There are no minimum or maximum age limits and further details are available by calling ProSpeed Motorsport on 01977 684795 or by visiting www.prospeed-motorsport.co.uk.
These are genuinely some of the best prizes and opportunities up for grabs in UK rallying.
Why don’t you give it a go?
