No 1: 15th May
After several wet nights, we were very lucky to get a fine sunny evening
for the first of the series.
Eighteen competitors seemed to enjoy themselves, including at least
three autotest ‘virgins’, who all went very well on the slippery surface.
Commiserations to Andrew Watkins and John Root who had to rely on the
AA to get them home after their Seat expired – hope you get if fixed OK.
(They nonetheless finished the event – in a Metro!)
Chris Judge surprised himself by deservedly collecting FTD followed
by Mark Dawson, on his way to a Class B win ahead of Colin Shipway.
Hales Vaughan took the “I’ve cured the smoke now” Sprite to a Class
D/E win and Class A turned into quite a family affair with Chris Wise
just taking 1st ahead of Mum, Gill – closely followed by Richard.
It was good to see three ladies competing and I think the finances
might stretch to a Ladies Cup (I’m not allowed to call it a crumpet cup
anymore….) at the end of the series – provided they keep on entering of
course.
As always, thanks to my merry band of gallant marshals.
No 2: 29th May
A warm sunny evening greeted the twenty competitors who came out to
play including one or two new faces (to me anyway!) and several re-appearing
from the last series – good to see you all.
Festivities continued till nearly dark with a fine FTD to Bexley’s
Peter Bayliss and a Class A win for Chris Judge’s Mini.
Class B was closely contested resulting in a win for Ralph Travers
just ahead of Colin Shipway.
Several WR’s created a certain amount of havoc in Class D but finally
Daren Hall took the Class win from Nick Hedges - which in retrospect
might be a little unwise as I believe Nick owns the car !
Class E was a fairly hectic affair with several ‘hairy’ rally cars
taking on the ever-present Sprite and eventually coming away with a win
in the hands of Anthony Blyth.
Well done to you all, my grateful thanks to the marshals, and let’s
do it all again in two weeks time? (Thursday June 12)
