EDITORIAL

Hellooo! Is there anybody out there?  Good Grief my e-mail has gone strangely quiet.  Well, apart from Sam Collins with a revised look at his Club Lights and an outline of where it all began.  Students really do work in between trips to the student union bar and the pub!
Andy Elcomb has been busy looking for further info from the MSA regarding the Foot and Mouth situation, his update is inside this issue.  Mark Dawson took to one of the few grass events and had a go at marshalling at the recent Croydon DMC PCT held at Dorking.  His report can be read in Compost this month and Mark’s photos of this event adorn the front and back cover of Acorn this month.  Thanks Mark.  Graham Baker also went along to have a go as a passenger and I heard he had an enjoyable time.
Our sprint at North Weald is getting closer and hopefully you should have this on your doorstep before the event. If you couldn’t get an entry, come and marshal, our illustrious Chin is waiting to hear from you and those Chalky White points, not to mention the Marketing Machine marshalling points are up for grabs.  Ralph got an entry so (babysitters willing, if they haven’t decided a holiday in Scotland is a better option than dealing with the grandchildren over night!) we should be up there and Rob Hulme will be getting his book back at long last!  I really would have liked to do a double drive with Ralph this time, but due to the uncertainty of aforesaid babysitter’s plans, I didn’t get round to sorting out my licence in time.  Ralph suggested I could do it on the day!  Not likely said I, I would have to eat my February Editorial column!  Anyway I could do with starting off my tan now that Summer has arrived the weather will be scorching at North Weald, I guarantee it. (What happened to Spring by the way, you know the bit that traditionally comes after Winter and before Summer—answers on a postcard to your puzzled Editor!)
We have three new members to say Welcome to this month.  They are:
Paul Hands of Rainham in Kent and Darren Stepney also from Rainham.  Paul and Darren are interested in Stage Rallies.  The third new member is Jeremy Robson from Orpington, Kent.  Jeremy has expressed an interest in sprinting.  Hope we will get to meet you at our next social evening on 20th June and put faces to the names.
Well that’s it for this month.  Must go now and have a glass of Pimms!

Dawn Travers
