Chairman’s Chatter
It’s interesting that after last month’s Acorn I have not received any calls regarding new venues! However there may be some news on that front in the next month or so, so watch this space.
The committee had to make a decision regarding the running of the Spotted Dick and Custard Stage at Longcross in September. Unfortunately the decision was to cancel this year’s event before we started so as not to incur any costs. The reason for this decision was quite simple. Since our event last year no daylight event held at Longcross has had an entry of more than 50, in fact I’m fairly sure over 45, and this is just not financially viable and as a club, whilst we are in the business of promoting motor sport we are not in the business of subsidising events to the tune of several thousand pounds.
The Autotest season is now underway and I understand enjoying good levels of support. Business commitments take me away on just about every Thursday throughout the summer so I shall be unable to attend, however that won’t stop me recommending you have a go as they’re great fun and you can learn so much about car control.
