Mid Wales Stages

Kent’s Junior Rally Driver and ProSpeed Scholarship Finalist Stefan Davis has been pursuing his dream to become a professional rally driver. Stefan has been participating in the Peugeot 205 1.9 Scholarship, a purpose built Scholarship for potential future professional rally drivers. Stefan’s performance on the last round on the Mid Wales Stages means he has forged his way up to an amazing 2nd place out of the 21 scholarship hopefuls. Stefan has not had everything go his way of Clate, but consistently fast performances have led him to a fantastic second place and he's determined to go one better. “We never expected to be doing quite so well this early on, but we are finally finding some reliability in our home built and run car and I am just getting quicker and quicker every time I sit in it” said the Junior Rally Driver. Stefan has 3 rounds left in which to challenge for the lead on the Scholarship and there are also no shortage of professionals in the sport who are keeping a close eye on Stefan’s progress.

The investment in rallying is not cheap and Stefan has faced an uphill struggle in finding the funds he needs. Despite working 7 days a week and now some evenings at the Brands Hatch Rally School, he cannot keep ahead of the snowballing cost of rallying. Stefan has been striving to succeed in rallying for a few years now. He started his first rally event by buying a cheap Citroen AX throwing a sparse toolkit and a piece of carpet to lie on in the boot and drove to the event on his own. Although a determined young man, he soon realised that you simply cannot tackle this sport alone, you need a team around you. A team of volunteers now give up their spare time to help prepare and support the car on each event. He now needs the next part of the formula for success – A SPONSOR. The sponsor is going to be the most important part of the team and with the rest of the team sorted, this key stone in the wall of Stefan’s career needs to be found before the next round.

Stefan said “Rallying has taken over my life, it’s all I think about 24/7 and all I want to do is make it to the pinnacle of the sport in the country. The thought of not being able to compete in the final 3 rounds and holding a top 3 finish in the scholarship breaks my heart. I am surrounded by fast committed drivers and I am holding my own and really want to prove I have what it takes to succeed. I just know now my 3 years of hard work are about to go down the pan without help from a sponsor”.

Stefan’s next round is Swansea Bay National Rally on July 25th running on the same stages used on the World Rally Championship round Rally GB and Stefan is desperate to succeed and he just needs help.
