Summer Autotest Series 2005
Number 3 – June 9th
Daren Hall once again drove away with FTD, but only by some 9 seconds from the ex-national champion Steve Stringer, whose runs were made before the grass gave way to dust!
Chris Rose took the 3rd spot in Class A, only 1.8 seconds behind eventual winner Jim Bowie. James Fuller in his Citroen AX finished a creditable fourth, BUT you guys had better watch out – there’s a new kid on the block!!
Brand new club member Steve McMaster, in his first ever autotest only came 6th in class because he ‘wrong routed’ twice on test 6 and collected an extra 30 seconds – work out the implications yourselves!!
A massive Class B saw Steve Stringer triumph over Russell Eccleston. Again some new faces, Robert and Brian Sharpe from MMKCC sharing a Micra, Tom Ward and Alex Giddings making a welcome return and Andy Donn from Chelmsford in his Cavalier.
Class D/E was an unusual mix with Craig McGurk and Lee Busbridge battling it out in Lee’s Marina (Craig’s sadly having been laid to rest), Steve Thompson in his beautiful Alfa Romeo Bertone Guilietta GTV and John Calder in his novel, very neat and very quick class-winning Nova pick-up.
Thanks to the marshals for their efforts (two of whom didn’t know they were marshalling when they arrived!) and congratulations to the award winners.
