It is with great sadness that I have to report that our Competition Secretary Mark Dawson has lost his long battle with cancer at the tender age of 35. Mark passed away peacefully during the early hours of Wednesday 30th June in the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. Mark had struggled with cancer for many years but had shown amazing willpower to battle against its effects; despite this he had managed to continue with his passion and maintain his interest and involvement in club Motorsport at many different disciplines. Mark as many of you will know was an active competitor in sprinting, in both his fabulous Chevette and immaculate Puma, but also was a very keen and talented competitor in Autotests, Rallies and PCTs. Mark was a hugely valued member of your club committee and could always be relied upon for a balanced view or opinion coupled with a great sense of humour.
Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Mark’s parents Gee and Roy at this saddest of times. Despite their sad loss, happy memories of their beloved son will live on through them and all who had the pleasure of coming into contact with Mark Dawson.
