FAST FORWARD………….
MARKETING MACHINE 2001
With the current foot and mouth problem ending, we should see a resumption
of events in the motorsport world, particularly rallying and hillclimbs.
I’m not aware of many speed events in the Marketing Machine being cancelled.
The venues that have been affected were not being used by us until later
in the year, and these events now seem to be coming on stream again. Regs
for most events should reach you all as I have sent sets of labels to the
organisers, but if you are not receiving these then please let me know.
The MSA have agreed to suspend regulation B8.4(a) requiring written
agreement from all competitors for a change to the programme, so if any
do occur then I would welcome suggestions for replacements, or we could
score the series off of fewer events.
As usual, check out the web site for full details of how the championship
looks so far.
2002 MSA SPRINT LEADERS (NATIONAL SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP)
Some months ago an idea was floated to produce a National Sprint Champion
via a run off at a “neutral” venue of the various class winners from various
championships throughout the country.
As one of the larger championships in the country, we have been invited
to provide nominations for this event. There will be full details out soon
from Paul Parker, but I know that the run off will be held at Croft in
October.
Please support this venture and register your interest with Paul at
: britishsprint@paulparker.f9.co.uk
who will also answer any queries. I hope to have some more information
available soon.
MARKETING MACHINE ……………NEXT YEAR?????
As I noted earlier this year I will be stepping down from running this
event at the end of this season. Ian is doing a great job with the scores
but we still need someone to become Championship Coordinator.
Nobody is beating down my door as yet to get their hands on this job,
and fast approaching is the period in September/October when next year’s
calendar needs to be organised, and although I will help and assist, I
won’t be doing it alone, so unless somebody steps forward, sadly there
will be no championship next year.
How many times have I heard “you don’t want to do it like that……..”
well now is your chance to see if your ideas will work. The series has
evolved over the years through a series of ideas and suggestions from the
venues, the make up of the calendar, the scoring and number of events etc.
Nothing is fixed, and anything can be changed if you think it will work.
Contact me for details.
