Well it’s goodbye to 2002 and a very warm welcome to the new competition
year of 2003. Firstly I’d like to offer my congratulations to all of our
club award winners from 2002; it’s really nice to see so many people from
Sevenoaks & District Motor Club out there both competing and marshalling
on events locally and also further a field in the UK and Europe. Secondly,
for those of you who haven’t started yet, it’s time to drag yourself out
of that comfortable armchair that you have taken root in over the Christmas
holiday period and start work on preparing the competition car for the
year ahead. January’s weather is never particularly motivating, but if
you don’t make a start now then you will probably find that you are still
screwing the car together on the day of your first event in 2003
With preparations underway for the celebration of the club’s golden
jubilee in 2004 I am pleased to be able to announce that Chris Dennis has
offered to put together a history of the club that will be published early
next year. So if any of you have any old photographs or interesting documents
or anecdotes that could be usefully used by Chris, then please pass them
directly to him or alternatively via one of the members of the club committee.
Finally, I’d like to wish you all a very happy and successful New Year
and wish you every success with your chosen motor sporting activities during
2003. Hopefully your club committee and I will get to see many of you at
our annual Dinner Dance & Awards night at Leeds Castle on Saturday
1st February. If you haven’t already booked, then call me straight
away for tickets!
