Sevenoaks Scatter Rally 13th December The fourth of our six event series of scatter rallies started from the White Hart at Brasted on Wednesday evening. 5 crews in all came out on a rather damp, but dry night. The heavy rain of the previous few days had left some rather large puddles on route for the unsuspecting crew. One sign, near to a country pub, that was spotted during the event recce that amused was 'SLOW Free Range children and animals'. The rally was run on the northwestern quadrant of map 188 to simplify the task of navigation on the night and avoid constantly having to either swap or turn over the maps. The area was bounded by Otford to the north, Brasted to the west, Chiddingstone Causeway to the south and Ightham to the east. The first car arrived back at The White Hart at 22.13 with a maximum score on their sheet and one other where they claimed that the answer could not be found. For the years of experience of one of the crew, I should know as I've done enough events with him in the past to know, he should have looked under his feet or the car for the answer! Anyway, the remaining crews all started to arrive shortly afterward with Darren Hall and Mark Dawson next home having visited and answered correctly a total of 25 clues. Everyone arrived back without incurring any time penalties for lateness, having enjoyed themselves during the evening. The organiser attempted to confuse the crews by introducing two deliberate mistakes in the navigation, but most crews overcame these difficulties. Overall I think that everyone, including the less experienced crews, enjoyed themselves. I know that I as the organiser had a lot of fun to in setting it all up. It was just a shame that we didn't manage to get a few more of you out there! Anyway the overall result was decided in favour of Andy and Vivien with the earliest time home. Darren and Mark had fun trying to get all the clues, but it cost them the win on the night!
