In the Hot Seat

Following three years as Chairman of Sevenoaks & District Motor Club I have reluctantly decided that it would be in the best interests of the club if I resigned from the chair. Family and business commitments mean that I believe that I am unable to devote sufficient time to the role and I believe it would be in the best interests of the club if I step aside and let someone take over who can devote the necessary time.

As many of you will already be aware Karen and I have a young daughter, Lucy, who at just over one year old needs ever more time from both of us; coupled with that I launched a new business venture two years ago and another last November. As a consequence I have huge demands on my time and regrettably something had to give.

Following deliberation by the club committee, Colin Billings has been approached and agreed to return to the committee. He has already started to take over the reigns, but will formally take over the role of club Chairman with effect from the AGM in April, assuming that he and the other members of the committee are re-elected, as I hope they will be, by you the members.

By the time that you read this both the Annual Awards night and Kent Rally will have come and gone (more details in next month’s Acorn), but we will be needing your help in running the Rally of Kent, our co-promoted event with Bexley and Maidstone, on the 20th March. Please make the organisers lives easy by volunteering early.

Lastly, don’t forget our first PCT in many a year, being run by Clive Cooke on 13th March, details elsewhere in Acorn.
