Comp Talk
Having been bribed by the committee into taking over the post of Competition Secretary, (Colin Rodger bought me a pint), I will be using this column I hope, to keep you up to date of all the events that are happening in the following months. The club’s first event of the year is the KENT RALLY on the night of 19th/20th Feb and if you have not already done so then please enter or offer your services as a marshal by contacting either Chin or me.
The following weekend 26th Feb is the RALLYE SUNSEEKER where we have been asked to run the main time controls, about a dozen people are needed so of you are able to help out and want to see the cars and talk to the crews please give Chin a call. The SCATTER that was supposed to be ours on 21st February has been cancelled as we felt it was too soon after the Kent and entries, as well as alert organisers would be thin on the ground!
March sees the competition season really get under way, we start the month with a 12 Car Rally on the 4th being organised by Chin, hopefully details of the start are to be found elsewhere in this Acorn, if not contact him.
To find out if all the work you have done to your car has paid off Borough 19 are holding a TEST DAY at North Weald on March 6th contact Neil Benfield for more details.
Due to the popularity of production car trials, we are running our first PCT for many years on 13th March at Nurstead Hill Farm, Longfield Hill map 177 / 631685. This event is open to all club members and you do not need a comp licence or any special vehicle, any normal 2 wheel drive production car is suitable and no special navigation skills are needed so bring your family. The only requirement is that front seat passengers must be over 12 years of age. Even if you are not able to compete but want to see what is involved then please offer to marshal. Contact Clive Cooke for more details.
March 20th is the RALLY OF KENT the only forest stage rally in Kent and co promoted by ourselves, Bexley and Maidstone car clubs. Sevenoaks are running the Hemsted stages and lots of help is needed so please let Andy Elcomb know if you can help out.
The first round of the Sevenoaks Speed League is at Brands Hatch on 2nd April organised by TWMC and our first sprint is on 10th April at North Weald.
There is a lot going on in the next few weeks so get out there either competing or marshalling and start earning those important points towards the various trophies and championships. Happy Competing!
