'The Grasshopper' Scatter Rally

The second of this season’s Scatter Rallies was run from The Grasshopper near Westerham on 13th November. Well done to Daren Hall and Mark Dawson for producing yet another conclusive victory on what proved to be a very wet evening.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that everyone proved to be good at timekeeping by getting back within the time limit, albeit only by a few seconds for two crews. A number of crews lost a few marks for not reading the question sheet thoroughly and only writing down one hydrant number when two were required. Unfortunately the organiser (that’s me!) managed to write down one of the map references incorrectly, despite rechecking the plots, causing consternation with a number of crews!
From the results you will see that Team Travers are much improved these days and were in with a shout of beating Andy and Viv Elcomb to second place. Does this mean that they don’t fall out in the car any more? Well done to Anthony McKenzie who was out navigating on a scatter for the first time with his father doing the driving. Team Watkins are much improved too and are starting to get the hang of scatter rallies; hopefully we’ll see them out on many more events over the winter.
Finally a special mention to Ian Crocker who took off into the dark all on his own and recorded a very respectable score of 125.
