Editorial Ramblings
elcome to the Oakleaf, a newsletter for August and early September, which will hopefully fill in the gap between the (late!) July Acorn and the September/October Acorn.
The competition calendar is overleaf with latest info on events at the time of going to print. Hopefully we have covered everything that is of interest between now and then. Our next social will be the Find a Pub in Kent and it will be at The Bell in Smarden, Kent, a venue familiar to those who 12 car and scatter regularly. Meet up anytime from 8pm. The September 21st social is still hopefully karting but the details are to be confirmed. At the moment it will be an indoor venue and we will probably book a certain number of places on a public session, as it will be cheaper than trying to book exclusive use and then not getting enough people to fill the places needed. If you are at all interested then please email me or give me a call and I will keep a list of interested parties and give you firm details as soon as we have them. Alternatively look on our website www.sevenoaksmotorclub.com for more details. Our North Weald sprint is drawing ever nearer and entries are still on the lowish side but it will be a good event. For details of how to offer help with marshalling at this event and the Spotted Dick Stages at Longcross, see the Comp Sec' column next door! Team Travers will be at both events so hopefully see you at one or the other!

Comp Talk
ust a short report on some events that might be of interest to you. First of all we are running our Summer sprint at North Weald on 21st August and if you are not going to compete then why not come along and marshal, Don't forget that if you are a SPEED LEAGUE competitor it will be your last chance to get those extra 7 bonus points.
Then on 4th September we have our single venue stage rally, the Spotted Dick and Custard Stages at Longcross, near Chertsey, when we need all our club members there to help make it a success. We will also need some help on the Saturday with setting up from 9am to about 1pm. If you can help on either of these events then please contact our Chief Marshal team of Caroline & Clive Canon on 0208 402 5332 to offer your services. Other events are The Wugging Stages on 20th August; a sprint at Goodwood on 27th August organised by BARC; the Bullnose Rally on 10th/11th September, an inter-association road rally; a sprint at Lydden run by Borough 19 on 17th September. Two more unusual events that might interest you are the "Wheel Meet Again" show at Bishops Stortford on 18th September, a show of vintage, veteran

and classic cars, bikes and trucks as well as new vehicles. More details can be found at www.stmarys.net. The other event is on Saturday 10th September at Lydden, The September festival of speed being organised by BARC, with saloon car races in the morning, including Mazda sports cars, MG owner's club and oval racing in the afternoon with the CAMSO V8s, Minis and rallycross cars versus Group A hot rods. Sounds like a good spectator one, this!
Happy competing.
