Chairman’s Chatter

Well I’m not quite sure how this all happened. I had said to Chin that I would be happy to rejoin the committee once again and the next thing I knew I was back in the Chair. The term stitch-up comes to mind.

My first job has to be to thank Colin Roger on behalf of the committee and club for his stewardship for the last few years. What with a young family new business and a loopy dog it can’t have been the easiest of times.

For my part, I must apologise for not writing anything last month, but I was just a little bit involved in a local rally which has seemed to dominate my time over the past nine months and all my time in the final month or so. For those of you that were out helping in one form or another a very big thank you, all the planning in the world is a complete waste of time if you guys don’t come out and make it work on the day. All in all the Rally of Kent has received great reviews, having watched the Sky TV coverage this weekend phrases like “rallying’s best kept secret” and “I thought it was going to be Mickey Mouse, what a mistake” stood out. Thanks to everyone’s efforts the day stayed on schedule with the last stage starting within one minute of the planned schedule, which is not too shabby after full day’s competition.

As you will be aware we are co-promoting a sprint at Snetterton on May 7th with Borough 19, I’m sure there is an ad for marshals elsewhere in the magazine but your support will be appreciated.

I hope this will reach you just before the AGM please come along and have your say, it’s the only way the club’s committee can judge what you as the membership wants from the club.

Finally it is with great sadness that I have to report the death of David Seigle-Morris on March 23rd following a short illness. David was a founding member of the club (membership no.15) and long term Vice President. To his wife Susan family and friends we send our condolences.
