Now is as good a time as any to remind you all to send me details of any events you compete in to which 7oaks is invited, either directly or via Association etc. invitations. I’d like to see these as soon as possible after the events so that, firstly, I can publish the scores so far, secondly, so that I can make any queries while the event is still fresh in your minds and, thirdly, so that I don’t have a massive amount of work right at the end of the year. By publishing the trophy tables as the year progresses I also hope to encourage you to try harder, enter more events etc. so that you can hold your lead, catch the next place up and so on – and, anyway, we all like seeing our name in print!

With Lydden coming soon the Rose & Crown table will be filling up and I hope to publish it on our website from then onwards. It will need to be up to date so, again, please let me have any information pronto – thanks.

I now come on to our most prestigious awards, namely the Batturd Cup and the Bent Con Rod. These are awarded for disasters (in competition) of an accidental or mechanical nature and the only feedback we get is if a committee member happens to be aware of these unfortunate occurrences. Please let me know of any incident which may be worthy of consideration, we discuss all of them at each committee meeting and they are minuted – N.B. these minutes are not public and will not reach your insurance company.

The same applies to the Presidents Trophy and the Elford Bowl - both rely on information to which your committee may not be privy. Don’t be shy, tell us what you’re doing and, better still, write about it for Dawn.
