7Oaks 12 Car - March 5th

Pease Pottage services just off the M23 saw the start of the season’s last 7Oaks run 12 car. Chris Scudder and Chin had worked out an interesting route using map 198, which meant a new map purchase for most competitors. There was once again a full entry including some of the newer 7Oaks members and a full quota of marshals.

This was our second attempt at a 12 car on the expert navigation and we were hoping for a reasonable result.

The route proved interesting and once again Ralph had a good go at plotting some sections on the move. We did still manage to lose a fair bit of time on a couple of sections where we didn’t have the courage of our convictions and one tricky bit of plotting made our brains hurt a bit!

At least we got through the route correctly and managed to pick up all the code boards and stay within the time allowed.

It certainly pays to concentrate on accuracy rather than speed. Although I know that if we want to improve, I will have to learn to pick up the pace a bit! Time to look for a more suitable car!

Many thanks to Chris and Chin for organising a fun evening’s motorsport and of course to the marshals. The results appears on the left.
