The speed season begins in earnest this month and by now all preparations
on your car should be done and dusted and all preparations for you the driver
should have been organised. Some of our members are having trouble though,
more in Bent and Batturds next month!
Our yearbook has been completed and you should find a copy with this month’s
Acorn. Hopefully it is as accurate as possible. Please let
Andy Elcomb know if there is anything amiss within the membership tables
at the back.
Although things are hotting up for the speed competitors, the 12car and
scatter season is practically at an end with the last Weald 12car taking
place on 11th April. Ralph and I managed 1st Novice, 4th overall at the 7oaks
12 car last month and we were actually quite nice to each other all evening
too. We hope to be there to complete on the 11th. I will be fresh (or not)
from a three day residential school trip with my daughter’s Year 5 class.
Two sleepless nights in the company of 58 10 year olds and 5 other adults!
I’ll need a nice relaxing whizz round the lanes after that! (Like a hole
in the head!)
But things at grassroots level will then turn to pastures green (pardon
the pun) with the Autotests making a welcome return. Read Mark Dawson’s
column to get the latest info on dates and venues.
Mike Jordan from M&MKMC has been in touch as they are hosting a rally
marshal’s seminar on 15th April 2003 at The Bull, East Farliegh (188/734 533)
starting at 8.00pm. It will be the same format as the one we hosted last
month but if anyone missed it, it's worth attending. Those that attended our
one back in February should have now received their Rally Marshals’ licences.
As Colin Roger mentioned last month, your committee are in the throws of
pulling together a plan for our Golden Jubilee in 2004. We are forming
a sub committee to pool ideas and organise events. If you have any ideas
for events, venues, speakers or would like to come join the sub committee,
talk to Colin or any of the other committee members. We have already
given you the date for the Jubilee Ball and Chris Dennis has kindly
agreed to put together a history of the club. If you have any archive
material that might be useful for this project, please let Chris know.
TTFN!
