Sevenoaks and District Motor Club was founded in 1954. The
club is one of the largest MSA affiliated motoring clubs in the country and the
membership reflects this, with members competing in most aspects of competitive
and fun motorsport. Our members have
ranged from people involved in the lowest level of club motorsport to the likes
of Vic Elford who is also our president and has raced in F1, sports cars and has
won the Monte Carlo Rally.
The club is actively involved in most aspects of motorsport.
We organise our own sprint championship and summer autotest series as well as
other events including, for the first time in 2008, an autosolo. There is
something for everybody whether you wish to compete or help out with marshalling
or organising. Our members are involved in a wide variety of types of motorsport
including circuit racing, rallying, sprinting, hillclimbs and of course, our own
club events.
We publish a monthly magazine called the Acorn which
contains regular competition updates, news from the social scene, articles
submitted by members, and members’ adverts.
Our social events are wide-ranging in their activities. We
have welcomed a number of speakers on a wide range of relevant subjects; we hold
regular competitor forums where newcomers to the sport can get advice and help
on how to get started; other entertainment such as trying out local Kentish
customs - Bat & Trap and Skittles; film nights and child friendly evenings such
as Scalectrix evenings. We meet on
the third Wednesday of every month. See the Social page for details of
location.
If you are interested in becoming involved, please contact
one of the committee members or come along to one of our social events to find
out more.
