Coronavirus Statement

On behalf of the Sevenoaks & District Motor Club committee

Tuesday 17th March 2020

Following the latest Government announcement regarding the spread of Coronavirus, the club will now 'Postpone' all our events and associated social activities. Sadly, this will also mean the complete cancellation of our Motorsport at the Palace sprint weekend. More details of this will be sent to all interested parties over the next few days. The view to postpone most of our activities was anticipated and we were lucky to successfully run our Autosolo at Brands Hatch over the weekend. We are now carrying out a financial review to minimise loss of revenue and not commit further funds to any future event this year.  Fortunately our only regular outgoings are the storage costs of our equipment. Motorsport is a hobby and we all hope that we will be able to continue with some activities later in the year, but it would appear this global health crisis is going to last for some considerable time.

Sevenoaks and District Motor Club

Sevenoaks and District Motor Club was founded in 1954. The club is one of the larger MSA affiliated motoring clubs in the country and the membership reflects this, with members competing in most aspects of competitive and fun motorsport.

Our members have ranged from people involved in the lowest level of club motorsport to the likes of Vic Elford who is also our president and has raced in F1, sports cars and has won the Monte Carlo Rally.

The club is actively involved in most aspects of motorsport. We organise our own sprint championship and summer autotest series as well as other events such as AutoSOLO, scatter and 12-car rallies. There is something for everybody whether you wish to compete or help out with marshalling or organising.

The Wednesday 18th March annual Autotest social night is cancelled due to Coronavirus precautions.
You can now submit your event results on line to count towards end of season trophies
AutoSOLO scheduled for 4th April 2020 has now been cancelled by Valence School as a precautionary measure in response to the Coronavirus threat

Motorsport UK Announces £1M Club Continuity Funding Package

New Motorsport UK RS Clubman licence from 2020

From January 2020, Motorsport UK will be introducing a requirement for all competitors in Motorsport UK permitted events to hold a Motorsport UK competition licence; in addition to your club membership. This will be at a minimum the new "RS Clubman licence" and applies to new competitors as well as to anyone previously competing solely with a club membership card.

The good news is that this entry-level RS Clubman licence is completely free of charge.

This initiative is being introduced by Motorsport UK to encourage participation at grass roots level as well as to ensure that all competitors are covered by comprehensive public liability and personal accident insurance. It replaces the Non-Race Clubman licence, (which in 2019 cost £29). All licence holders will have access to the Member Benefits Programme which provides substantial discounts on well-known brands’ products and services and can offset the costs of competing.

If you have not previously held a Competition licence or not renewed in 2019, it will also be a requirement to apply for a new RS Clubman licence in order to compete or be a passenger in Club events. This is free of charge and applicable to Autotests, Autosolos, Trials, Cross Country and Road Rallying including 12 Cars and Scatters. Please note: an RS Clubman licence is not required if you are already in possession of a current 2019 Competition licence.

Apply For an RS Clubman License from the Motorsport UK Website.  The application form is very straight forward and takes only a couple of minutes to complete.  Sign up now and be ready to compete in 2020.
